So whatever is needed for the digitization of 35mm slides or negatives is included - I believe that's praiseworthy for a scanner in this low price segment.
I especially want to mention, that one does not get just sone photo-processing software, but the famous Elements version of Adobe ® Photoshop ®.

Like with the predecessor model, manual work is necessary operating the CrystalScan 7200, meaning there is no automatic film transport. The handling and the characteristics are similar. The new CrystalScan 7200 is offered for practically the same price as the old model. So nearly nothing has changed in comparison to the predecessor model. That's however only little useful to the user, particularly since an effective resolution of 3300 dpi is completely sufficient for the scanning of 35mm films. It is to be considered however, that the optical resolution remains at 3600 dpi only the step-size of the stepping motor got halved, so that in transportation direction 7200 dpi are achieved. The follow-up model Crystal Scan 7200 now suggests a sensational resolution of 7200 dpi to the user.
The Crystal Scan 3600 was already considered good due to a high effective resolution of approximately 3300 dpi that's a high value based on the nominal resolution of 3600 dpi.
I am now sticking to Vuescan because it is so much quicker but would appreciate being able to use some of the many adjustment options wishing Silverfast if only I could get it to scan as quick as Vuescan.Īnyone managed to do this or know if it is actually possible with Silverfast.The Reflecta CrystalScan 7200 ist available in our film scanner shop. I have just picked up a Plustek 8200i to scan my collection of 35mm Slides and Negatives, the scanner came with Silverfast 8 SE Plus software which I have been trying to use and although I am getting good results I am finding it very slow going with it taking over 10 minutes to do one Hi Res scan.įrom what I have been able to figure out is the reason it is so slow is because of the way it implements the iR Dust removal.įirst a high res preview is done, then you tell it you want to use IR dust removal so it does another hi res scan to work out where the dust is, then it does another hi res scan then it does the proper hi res iR scan then it fixes the scan to remove the dust, which is taking a long time to work through my slides.
